Welcome to Hopkins, Belize

Hopkins is a small coastal Garifuna Village located 2.5 miles away from Fresh water creek long-term Rentals. Hopkins Village started off as a fishing and farming Garifuna community with a population of 500 Garinagu. Now Hopkins Village has grown to a population of 2,500 people. Hopkins is now known as a popular tourist destination in Belize, Hopkins was recently voted “The Friendliest Village in Belize” by Belize’s First Magazine.

 

Hopkins Village is the place to visit if you want to experience the true Garifuna culture and interact with friendly people. Hopkins Village is separated into two main transects; the Northside (Baila) and the Southside (False Sittee). It is surrounded by the Maya Mountain Range, and the Caribbean Sea on its shore.

Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary 

Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary is approximately 18 miles from the Fresh water Creek Long Term Rentals. Cockscomb is famous for being the first jaguar preserve in the world. Experience the beauty and wonder of nature in Belize as you can take a day trip or experience overnight camping to Cockscomb Basin. 

 

Hundreds of species of indigenous plants thrive in the Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary, allowing you to see exotic amphibians, reptiles, colorful birds, insect and swim in natural waterfalls pool. There many hiking trails to choose from, with different terrain and vegetation.

Belize Barrier Reef 

Belize Barrier Reef is approximately 14 miles ( 45 minutes boat ride ) from Hopkins Village. The Belize Barrier Reef is the ultimate destination for a tropical snorkeling adventure. This reef system is the largest barrier reef in the northern hemisphere with offshore atolls and several hundred island (Caye), spanning 900 kilometers long. There are approximately 70 different hard coral species and 36 soft coral species have been discovered and identified at the barrier reef and over 500 species of fish and invertebrates live in the area.
